The AVI grants iPresas an aid to continue developing the project Seismic Risk Characterization in Embankment Dams Using Numerical Models

The Valencian Innovation Agency (Agencia Valenciana de la Innovación, AVI) grants iPresas an aid to continue developing the project Seismic Risk Characterization in Embankment Dams Using Numerical Models, with Application to the Insurance Market and Safety Investment Planning.

The Generalitat Valenciana (regional government in Spain), through the co-financing program Promotion of Talent / L3. Doctoral students (Innodocto) of the Valencian Innovation Agency (Agencia Valenciana de la Innovación, AVI), has granted iPresas an aid to continue carrying out the project entitled Seismic Risk Characterization in Embankment Dams Using Numerical Models, with Application to the Insurance Market and Safety Investment Planning. The objective of this aid is to promote the training of doctoral students so they will acquire the necessary skills to develop R&D projects in business environments and thus increase the companies degree technification and innovative capacity.

The main purpose of this Project is the development of numerical methods that allow the estimation of the failure probability in embankment dams due to seismic events. From the results obtained, it is intended to develop a tool that allows estimating the probability of failure and the fragility curves based on the characteristics of the dam. Fragility curves are a very valuable input for dam risk analysis processes, which is the main consulting activity of iPresas.

Finally, this project aims to contribute to the improvement in the planning of investments in dam safety for holders and operators. The creation of this tool hopes to facilitate access to a new market, the insurance companies market, since it allows a better definition of the conditions of the premiums and the optimization of their benefits.
