Sergio Romero awarded by IIAMA for the best Master’s thesis in Water Engineering and Climate Change

On friday 10 November, our colleague Sergio Romero Duque received the accessit award for the best Master’s thesis in the field of Water Engineering and Climate Change.

Sergio developed his Master’s thesis entitled “Evaluation of the use of sub-seasonal weather forecasts to support water management in the Júcar river basin”, which analyses the feasibility of incorporating sub-seasonal weather forecasts in the management of the Júcar river basin. This will enable more informed decision-making, guaranteeing water availability and sustainable management. The study combines the ECMWF sub-seasonal weather forecast model with a hydrological model of the Júcar river exploitation system developed in TETIS.

This prize, awarded by the IIAMA-UPV (Water and Environmental Engineering Research Institute of the Polytechnic University of Valencia), aims to recognise the best work of young researchers from Spanish universities and promote excellence.

On behalf of the whole team, we would like to congratulate Sergio for his dedication and achievements. Bravo Sergio!
