The activities carried out comprised:
- Review of historical information on the performance of the structures, including design and construction reports, instrumentation reports, inspection reports, structural analyses, hydrological and hydraulic studies, repairs and Emergency Action Plans.
- Analysis of monitoring data from both dams to assess their historical behaviour, including statistical analysis of the data.
- Visual inspection of both dams, accompanied by the EPM engineers responsible for these civil works.
- Delivery of baseline Failure Mode Identification Workshops involving EPM’s dam safety team and international experts, forming the basis of the qualitative risk analysis of the dams.
- Compilation of the experts’ conclusions arising from the inspections and information review, together with the preparation of dam safety recommendations agreed with EPM.
- Preparation of an interim review report for each dam.
- Compilation and prioritisation of all recommendations arising from the Failure Mode Identification process in an overall report on the work undertaken.
