On 16 September, iPresas welcomed a delegation from the Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute (NHRI), a national institute under China’s Ministry of Water Resources, to Valencia. The main aim of the meeting was to strengthen the relationship between the two organisations and explore opportunities for long-term collaboration.
The NHRI delegation was welcomed by Adrián Morales, Managing Partner of iPresas; Ignacio Escuder, Founding Partner; Javier Aparici, Head of the R&D&I Department; and David Macías, Head of the International Dams Department. The visit strengthened ties between the two organisations, provided an opportunity to share knowledge and helped identify potential areas for future technical and institutional collaboration.
Exchange of approaches to dam safety and risk management
During the meeting, iPresas presented its methods and tools for risk analysis and dam safety assessment, comparing them with the approach set out in the Chinese Guidelines for Risk Classification and Assessment of Reservoir Dam. It also demonstrated its platform for risk management and the prioritisation of investments over time.
The NHRI delegation presented the institute’s work and experience, along with developments in China in dam safety, digitalisation and intelligent systems for dam operation and maintenance. The meeting gave both organisations an opportunity to share knowledge and learn about each other’s approaches.
The exchange identified several opportunities for cooperation between the two institutions.
This meeting marks a further step in the relationship between iPresas and NHRI. It opens the door to a lasting framework for collaboration, through which the two organisations can combine their capabilities, exchange knowledge and develop joint initiatives in China and other Asian markets.
