Ignacio Escuder participates in the “Symposium on Sustainable Development of Dams and River Basins & APG Symposium on Water and Dams” in New Delhi (India)

The event took place from the 24th to the 27th of February 2021, both in person and online.

In February, the symposium on Sustainable Development of Dams and River Basins and the APG Symposium on Water and Dams took place in New Delhi (India), both in person and online. This event was organised by the International Committee on Large Dams (ICOLD), the Indian Committee on Large Dams (INCOLD) and the ICOLD Asia Division, in collaboration with CWC (Central Water Commission), DRIP (Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project), and NHP (National Health Portal of India).

Ignacio Escuder (Founding Partner of iPresas) was invited to the event, making a Keynote speech on advances in dam safety, risk assessment and management, and two workshops related, respectively, to numerical analysis of dams and Life Extension Technologies and Strategies for Aging Dams.

On Friday the 26th of February Ignacio was the chairman and keynote speaker at the conference entitled “Advances in dam safety, risk assessment and management“. His presentation focused on the important role that India could play in dam risk governance at a global level. The two working sessions took place on Saturday the 27th of February. The first one (Session 5) focused on the current challenges for seismic numerical modelling of dams. The second (session 7), of which Ignacio was the chairman, was aimed at exploring strategies and technologies to counteract the ageing of dams and extend the life span of these critical infrastructures.

The participation in this symposium, as well as the collaboration in the drafting of several Technical Guides (see Guide for the Classification of Potential Dam Hazardin India), shows iPresas’ commitment to the development and implementation of risk management in infrastructure.
