Preparation of the national water resources development programme (NWRDP) and assessment of dam safety practises (Mozambique) for World Bank in association with DNAAS- In progress

The project is being developed in a JV with SGI. iPresas focuses on the Assessment of Dam Safety Practices in Mozambique, emphasizing operational, regulatory, and design perspectives. The assessment involves a diagnostic of the current condition of the dams, followed by a comprehensive risk assessment and management plan.

The methodology employed is centered on the integral and continuous management of dam safety, connecting the available information in the Dam Safety Technical File with a systematic risk analysis of the entire system. Through this methodology, iPresas aims to analyze and evaluate existing risks, propose measures for risk reduction, and establish the optimal sequence for their implementation. Thorough the whole process, capacity building will be carried out to ensure the transfer of knowledge.

Among the tasks for this project are:

  • Updating the dam database and inventory.
  • Review of regulatory framework.
  • Developing a risk-based screening tool.
  • Applying Potential Failure Mode Analysis (PFMA) to 6 dams.
  • Developing a tool to prioritize risk reduction measures.
