Reassessment of the flood risk associated with the proposed Beneixama Hive solar photovoltaic plant. The project sought to review the work previously undertaken and determine whether the proposed solutions would reduce potential flood impacts and meet the requirements of the applicable regulations.
The work included a review of the regulatory framework and existing studies, together with an updated characterisation of rainfall within the project area. Based on this information, a rainfall-runoff hydrological model and a two-dimensional hydraulic model were developed to assess flow behaviour at the proposed plant site.
The modelling supported an assessment of flood conditions under both the existing situation and the future scenario following implementation of the proposed corrective works. A comparative analysis of the two scenarios was also undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of the measures and their influence on flood levels, depths and extent.
Based on the results, technical recommendations were developed to improve the corrective measures and support the feasibility of the proposed solar photovoltaic plant in relation to flood risk.
