The work presented the experience developed together with Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) in implementing an integrated safety management system for its portfolio of large dams, based on risk analysis and risk management methodologies.

During the presentation, the process followed to assess the safety and risk of EPM’s dams was explained. This portfolio includes infrastructures with different typologies, ages, dimensions and functions, including major dams such as Ituango, Porce III, Porce II, Playas, Riogrande II, Miraflores, Santa Rita, Troneras, San Francisco, La Fe, Piedras Blancas, Quebradona, El Buey, Tenche and Cameguadua.
