Update of the dam-break analysis and monitoring system for the Mtkvari Hydropower Plant (Georgia) for Georgian Co-Investment Fund – 2023

The project focuses on assessing the outcomes of a potential dam failure through hydraulic modelling (first establishing the most comprehensive possible knowledge base on all relevant aspects of the study areas, including hydrology, hydraulics, topography, dam project design documentation, etc.) and reviewing the dam safety management system, including proposals for its improvement.
To this end, the main tasks carried out were:

• Updating the previously identified dam failure modes.
• Hydraulic assessment of the spillway capacity.
• Hydraulic modelling of the downstream river reach and updating the flood inundation maps.
