The dam is an embankment structure with a height of 34 metres above foundations and is used to supply drinking water to the metropolitan area of the Aburr\u00e1 Valley. As part of the project, the following studies were conducted:<\/p><ul data-start=\"381\" data-end=\"1145\"><li data-start=\"381\" data-end=\"532\"><p data-start=\"383\" data-end=\"532\">Geological and geotechnical characterisation of the materials of the dam body and foundation based on fieldwork and review of existing information.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"533\" data-end=\"571\"><p data-start=\"535\" data-end=\"571\">Updated seismic hazard assessment.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"572\" data-end=\"634\"><p data-start=\"574\" data-end=\"634\">Updated hydrological and hydraulic study of the La Fe Dam.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"635\" data-end=\"677\"><p data-start=\"637\" data-end=\"677\">Technical inspection of the La Fe Dam.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"678\" data-end=\"742\"><p data-start=\"680\" data-end=\"742\">Analysis of historical performance based on monitoring data.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"743\" data-end=\"832\"><p data-start=\"745\" data-end=\"832\">Structural analysis of the dam body using several stress\u2013strain and stability models.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"1014\"><p data-start=\"835\" data-end=\"1014\">Updating of flood inundation maps using a two-dimensional hydraulic model for spillway flows, dam breach, and bottom outlet opening, along the Negro River downstream of the dam.<\/p><\/li><li data-start=\"1015\" data-end=\"1145\"><p data-start=\"1017\" data-end=\"1145\">Estimation of the consequences in terms of economic losses and loss of life for the communities located downstream of the dam.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"1147\" data-end=\"1562\">Based on the results of the main analyses carried out, a qualitative assessment was performed through a failure mode identification process.
