iPresas performs risk analyses for 3 dams in Albania

Risk analyses conducted in Albania in the period 2014-2015 included the following dams in the Drin river: Fierze dam (162 m high), Koman dam (120 m high) and ‘Vau i Dejes’ system of dams (3 dams ranging from 21 to 60 m high).

All dams, with a total reservoir capacity of 3800 Hm³, provide hydropower generation which yields an annual average production rate of 3700 GWh (90% of annual production in the country).

Risk analyses were conducted to inform decision-making on dam monitoring, surveillance and emergency management. In addition, specific training activities were developed for enhancing knowledge transfer on dam safety and risk management issues.
