iPresas participates in the 1st International Conference on Dam Safety Management and Engineering in Malaysia

The 1st International Conference on Dam Safety Management and Engineering was held in Penang (Malaysia) from November 18th to 22nd.

The Malaysian National Committee on Large Dams (MYCOLD) hosted in Penang the 1st International Conference on Dam Safety Management and Engineering. The Conference, with the theme “Resilient Dams for Safe Communities”, was jointly organized by the Malaysian electric company Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) belonging to the Ministry of Water, Land and Natural Resources of the Malaysian Government and the Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).

The Conference, which counted on the participation of several international experts in dam safety management, started with two workshops on dam safety and flood evaluation on November 18th. During this congress, took place the exposition entitled “International case studies on using risk-informed dam safety management” presented by Adrián Morales, CTO at iPresas, within the Plenary Session.

The event finished with three workshops about the reservoir sedimentation, emergency management for dam safety and risk-informed dam safety governance. This last course, entitled “Risk Informed Decision Making Assessment” and highly attended, was taught by Adrián Morales. It was focused on the benefits of risk-informed decision for dam safety management, highlighting the importance of community engagement.
