Ignacio Escuder participates in the “14th ICOLD International Benchmark Workshop on Numerical Analysis of Dams”

Ignacio Escuder participated in the “14th ICOLD International Benchmark Workshop on Numerical Analysis of Dams”, organized by the ICOLD Technical Committee on Numerical Analysis of Dams.

The event, held every two years, took place in Stockholm (Sweden), from 6 to 8 September 2017.

“The objective of this meeting was to exchange knowledge and experience about planning, design, construction, as well as the operation and maintenance of dams”, explained Ignacio Escuder.

During the first days, different solutions were presented for four themes, and on the third day a technical visit was organized.

Specifically, the event had 127 participants and 52 papers were presented for the following themes:

  • Theme A: Cracking of a concrete arch dam due to seasonal temperature variations.
  • Theme B: Static and seismic analysis of an arch-gravity dam.
  • Theme C: Embankment dam behaviour – prediction of arching and cracking potential.
  • Theme D: Risk Analysis–assessment of reliability for concrete dams.
